We’re back! Residential construction is resuming in Michigan
May 8, 2020
We are excited to open our doors again this week for home tours, meetings at the information centers and design studio appointments. We have spent the last month working to create a safe and streamlined process for you to build your dream home.
To keep you informed about what to expect, here are some Frequently Asked Questions and links below to learn more about our new safety procedures:
What is the best way to tour a model home or visit an information center?
As of May 9, we will be available by appointment only during regular business hours. To schedule your visit please call or email us. This will allow us to practice new safety and sanitation procedures to prepare for your appointment. Submit a request through the red Schedule a Tour button found on each community page or call the number listed for the community you would like to visit.
We will also continue to host virtual appointments and tours of available homes.
Will there be other visitors in the information center during my appointment?
A new home consultant will greet you at your scheduled time following proper safety protocols that include wearing a mask and maintaining six feet of space. In person tours are limited to three visitors. No other visitor groups will be allowed in the information center during your appointment.
What steps have you taken to ensure safety in the information centers?
We have been closely following local and national guidelines to prepare for reopening our information centers. Our centers have been deep cleaned and disinfected. We have also implemented new safety protocols to direct our team members on proper disinfectant measures between appointments and for their personal space. Employees have also familiarized themselves with the symptoms of COVID-19 and what to do if they suspect a visitor is ill. Any employee/contractor/visitor showing symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to leave the information center/jobsite and return home.
Is a mask required for visitors?
Yes. We are following the CDC and Governor recommendations to use a face mask at all times when interacting with others. This applies to both our staff and our visitors.
Are you screening visitors?
Yes. Upon arrival, we will ask visitors several questions prior to entry including:
- Have you been diagnosed with COVID-19?
- Are you currently experiencing, or have you recently experienced, any acute respiratory illness symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath?
- Have you been in close contact with any persons who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19?
- Have you been in close contact with any persons who have traveled and are also exhibiting acute respiratory illness symptoms?
Can I walk into an information center or tour a model home without an appointment?
No. Per the Governor’s order section 10.h.1: “Any showings, inspections, appraisals, photography or videography, or final walk-throughs must be performed by appointment and must be limited to no more than four people on the premises at any one time.”
How are you handling sick or exposed employees?
Norfolk Homes is operating under a strict policy that does not allow employees to report to work if they are ill, suspect they might be ill or have been around someone who has been exposed to COVID-19. We are practicing social distancing procedures among all our employees and taking added safety precautions.
Any employee that tests positive for COVID-19 will be directed to self-quarantine away from work and will be required to obtain a doctor’s note clearing them for return to work.
Can I cancel my appointment if I feel ill?
Yes! Now more than ever it is important to us to provide flexibility for our visitors. Call or email us to cancel and reschedule once you are feeling better.
