Living in Ann Arbor

May 29, 2020

Whether it’s the college that draws you to Ann Arbor, a nearby job opportunity or the world-class arts and culture, it’s easy to see why our small city has become a destination. Is maintenance free townhome living in Ann Arbor with Norfolk Homes right for you?

Let’s dive into the rankings and see what everyone else is saying about our charming hometown.

Small, smart and full of opportunity

Niche.com named the University of Michigan the top public university in America and Ann Arbor its second best city to live in America. WalletHub.com tabbed Ann Arbor as 2019’s most educated city and Bloomberg ranked Ann Arbor third in its list of Top New U.S. Tech Hubs. And those are just the tip of the iceberg.

Ann Arbor is also a winner in walkability as CityLab’s top car-free small metro and a highly-regarded home for entrepreneurs making it a perfect place for the self-motivated.

Tell me more about townhomes

At its core, townhomes are built for convenience. Their design allows for easier urban placement to keep you near a vibrant downtown scene like Ann Arbor, or building a larger plan without the hassles of a traditional homeownership like lawn maintenance and battling the Michigan snowfall.

Norfolk Homes’ Ann Arbor townhome option is the Blue Heron Pond Townhomes which are catered to the explorer. Located just steps away from downtown Ann Arbor, residents here will enjoy the dining and shopping from a walkable distance making it easy to stay connected.

These three-story townhomes are available in two floor plans: The Meadowbrook and The Packard. Each includes three bedrooms and 3 1/2 bathrooms with a spacious 2-car garage. The main floor is centered around an eat-in kitchen that opens to a gorgeous great room with a fireplace that comes in handy in Ann Arbor’s colder months. The third floor offers flexibility with a full bath in the loft that can easily convert into a home office, guest room, play room or recreation space depending on your needs.

Our second Ann Arbor community is Cornwell Farms. This luxury, single-family home community is located in the nearby Ann Arbor Township a short three miles away from downtown. Cornwell Farms is limited to just 27 estate sized homesites in a small enclave of executive style homes. The Canterbury, The Clare, The Hampton, The Richmond and The Winchester are available here.

Homes here were designed for a slightly slower lifestyle, but still provide quick access to the activities and attractions downtown. Floor plans are two stories with four bedrooms and 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 bathrooms.

Finding the right fit

Norfolk Homes spent the last several weeks preparing for a safe and successful reopening of our information centers and design studio. Both are open by appointment only with new protocols you can review here.

We are still available for virtual appointments and tours as well to fit your schedule and comfort level while making progress on building your dream home. Reach out to schedule an appointment with our team on your terms.

We moved back to the area and after touring several new home communities we purchased a quick move-in home from Norfolk Homes in Arlington Woods. We immediately felt at home here. Arlington Woods is very peaceful and serene, and we’ve loved getting to know our neighbors. We highly recommend this builder!
